Congratulations to Anne and Otto on their win at the Weimaraner Club of America’s National Field Trail held in Ardmore, OK. Below is Anne’s account of her and Otto’s adventures to Armore.
Almost 4000 miles later and we are finally home from the Weim Nationals!
We left the Tuesday after Thanksgiving when I came down with the flu (no time for last minute training!). Later that day, the horse had slipped and fallen in the trailer. He had a sore rear leg, and he had also hit his face and sustained some nerve damage. 🙁
The adventures continued on Wednesday when we blew a trailer tire. Later that day, the truck wouldn’t switch gas tanks and we ran out of gas on the freeway. All this was especially no fun since I was having classic flu symptoms and by this point had had a massive headache for eight consecutive days. On Thursday I ended up in urgent care.
We finally made it into Ardmore at 1am on Thursday night…. and the truck’s tailgate wouldn’t open so we couldn’t get our stuff out including the meals for Saturday and Sunday’s dinners. By 3am we finally had that all fixed. I was still sick as a dog this whole time, and the shot they gave me at urgent care had worn off so the headaches were back along with body aches, fever and fatigue. But we had made it.
Somehow I managed to show Stella on Friday and run the dogs when I needed to, but otherwise spent most of Nationals in bed. I honestly don’t know how I was even functioning.
But of course it was all totally worth it! Otto pulled through for me and he won the Championship!!!!The trip back was also eventful (truck dumping oil, battery issues, etc.) but we made it home safe, and I think I might be turning the corner and am finally starting to feel better. I think it might also finally be hitting me that WE DID IT! I am so proud of my boy, NFC FC AFC Touchstone’s AC Nothing Personal!!
