In 1954, we drove down to Santa Monica to look at the remaining puppy that Homer Carr had from his last litter.  He had said that she was the runt of the litter but would still be a good pet and personal gun dog which was what my mother was looking for.  I was still in grade school.  When we got there, Homer brought out the cutest little gray bundle and set her down on the living room floor.  My sister, who had not started school yet, and I were in seventh heaven.  While the adults talked, my sister and I were kept busy playing with the little gray pup.

And then we heard the magic words — we’ll take her!!  Homer then picked up a sheet of paper while he explained that the pup was from his “T” litter.  Thus, she would need to have a name beginning with the letter “T”.  On the sheet of paper were a lot of names all beginning with the letter “T”.  After going thru all of the names, we picked out the name Tinka.

And thus began Barthaus Weimaraners which morphed into Nordsee Weimaraners.
