Louise-Denver CO
Louise This girl came to us with Thelma (who we assume is her mother) from a rural shelter when her time was up! Update 4/5 from temp volunteer: Louise is a very affectionate girl who loves to snuggle on the couch. She loves kids of all sizes and is very much a “velcro puppy” as she follows the kids and dog around all day. She loves other dogs and seems fine with the neighbors cat, amazingly she has also ignored the chickens running around next door! She is very submissive to our dog, Rusty, and lays on her belly immediately if she feels he is upset with her. She comes when you call her. We are working on the house-training which is all new to Louise. She is a pleaser and wants to please her “master”. She has learned how to “sit” and “stay”. She is VERY food motivated. She has also learned how to take food gently from the kids as they give her a treat. She has learned all of this in a week! So I believe she is a very smart girl that just needs someone to love her and take the time to teach her good manners.I took her with me to an Alzheimer’s facility this week and she was an absolute natural. She was gentle, calm, and licked the elderly resident’s hands as they reached out to her. Every time I stopped to speak with someone she would lay down at my feet and waited patiently. She does well in the car but sometimes needs coaxing to get in, I think she is just too busy playing to want to go anywhere. She can counter surf with the best of them and can hunt for trash- best to keep counters free and trash covered. Louise does well on a leash. She loves to swim! I believe that Louise would do well in ANY home but needs a lot of companionship so having some kids around or another dog would be great for her. * Please note-Louise will require Weimaraner or similar breed experience, fenced yard, and a minimum 8 week obedience training before her adoption is finalized. Donations made for Louise will also toward her vet and boarding expenses.
